Hybrid Ford Fusion

Saturday Nov 7, 2009

The hybrid system that powers the Fusion is similar to the one used onboard the SUV. Using a 2.5-liter four cylinder engine that has its own system for maximizing fuel efficiency called the Atkinson cycle, the Fusion’s engine is accompanied by an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. The gasoline engine produces a respectable 155 horsepower and 136 lb ft of torque. Unlike the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, Used Cars Denver point out that the new Fusion hybrid features a full hybrid system, which means that Fusion can operate entirely on battery power for a prolonged about of time.
Ford estimates that the new Fusion Hybrid will achieve about 47 mpg in city driving and 43.5 mpg on the highway. Those numbers are strong for the midsize sedan segment and Ford claims they’re enough to make it the most fuel efficient vehicle in its class. But those numbers are still shy of the smaller Toyota Prius which gets about 57 mpg in the city.

Ford Explorer features

Wednesday Nov 4, 2009

Explorer saw the introduction, for the first time, of three row seating, meaning this already very versatile vehicle now had the capacity to take seven people in comfort. Trim levels were also revised, with the base now known as Sport Value, and the top of the range still called Limited. The Explorer continued its fine tradition for luxury and comfort in this guise, and offered enough variants to make it appealing across the board. It is interesting to note that the market began to change around the time of this third generation Explorer; whereas the 2 door variety – the Sport – had been popular before, it was noted that sales of 2 door SUVs were falling notably. Ford took the decision to discontinue the Sport 2 door version at the end of the models lifetime, when the newer, current Explorer was introduced for 2005.

It was also the case that sales of SUVs began to fall overall; the Explorer still sold well, but not as spectacularly as previously, and this may have had an impact on the demise of the Sport. However, Ford went full steam ahead with the new model, and also with future concepts for the Explorer.

Ford Fusion fairly loaded

Tuesday Oct 27, 2009

The Fusion is available in only two trims levels and has an option of two engines a 1.6 petrol and a 1.4 diesel. The petrol comes at Rs 6.30 lakh while the diesel costs Rs 7.22 lakh. The base version is also fairly loaded and gets all the features expect like power steering, power windows, keyless entry, central locking, rear wash wipe, defogger, The next version called the Plus gets ABS with EBD along with alloy wheels and colour coded exteriors. But it still doesn’t get airbags even as an option. This especially when even an Indica has optional airbags. Mini estate proportions liberate good interior space. Fusion is a refined crusier. Stiff suspension gives firm but well controlled ride. Engine pulls well at low speeds, but runs out of breath on the highway. Handling is good and lets you throw the car into corners. AC vents can be shut down completely. Concealed storage box useful for stashing valuables.
